Tucker Co. Appoints John A. Gentle, DLP as Consultant

Cherry Hill, NJ (February 28, 2007) – Jeffrey Tucker, CEO of Tucker Company, Cherry Hill, N.J., has announced the appointment of John A. Gentle, a prominent logistics industry leader, as a consultant to the firm. “John’s expertise will be a key factor in enhancing our process of working with carriers and shippers to continually improve transportation and supply chain strategies”, Tucker stated.

Gentle spent 35 years at Owens Corning where, until his recent retirement, was serving as their global leader for processes and transportation affairs. Among the many positions he held at the company were – global leader for carrier relations; transportation manager; project manager for materials management and warehouse management systems implementation, division warehouse manager, and DC administrative manager.

Gentle has been designated a “Distinguished Logistics Professional” (DLP) by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L); a “Logistics Rainmaker” by the DC Velocity Magazine, and was named 2006 National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) “Executive of the Year”.

Gentle holds two U. S. patents; and is the past Chairman of the Highway Committee of the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL). He has authored numerous articles on the topic of logistics, and is frequently quoted in national logistics publications.

Gentle is currently the Communications Chair of the National Academies of Science - National Transportation Research Board (TRB) Size and Weight Committee, and is also a member of the CSCMP, AST&L, TIA, NITL, and the TCA.

Gentle served in the U.S. Army and as an Armor Officer taught armor tactics at Ft. Knox. He earned an A.B. in Economics from Providence College.
